Mukaltin is a mixture of polysaccharides from the herb Althea medicinalis, has expectorant properties. Due to reflex stimulation, it increases the activity of mesenteric epithelium and peristalsis of respiratory bronchioles in combination with increased secretion of bronchial glands. Sodium bicarbonate liquefies sputum and slightly increases bronchial secretion.

Indications

Acute and chronic diseases of the respiratory tract, accompanied by

Formation of difficult to separate sputum viscosity:

- obstructive bronchitis

- tracheobronchitis

- pneumoconiosis

- bronchiectatic disease

- pneumonia

- pulmonary emphysema

How to use and dosage

Adults and children from 6 years old take 1-2 tablets before meals 3-4 times a day.

The course of treatment is usually 7-14 days.

Children can dissolve a tablet of the drug in 1/3 cup of warm water.

Side effects

- allergic reaction in the form of skin rash, itching

- dyspepsia, nausea

Contraindications

- hypersensitivity to the components of the drug

- gastric ulcer and duodenal ulcer

- pediatric age under 6 years

Drug interactions

Mukaltin can be administered simultaneously with other drugs used in the treatment of bronchopulmonary diseases.

Mukaltin should not be used concomitantly with preparations containing codeine and other anti-cough medicines, as it makes it difficult to expectorate liquefied sputum
