Glucosamine is essential for maintaining healthy cartilage by promoting its formation and repair. * Chondroitin is thought to attract fluid into the cartilage and enhances its elasticity. It is also purported to inhibit the enzymes that break-down cartilage.

Glucosamine chondroitin is a dietary supplement that some claim will reduce your symptoms of osteoarthritis. It works by maintaining the health of the cartilage in your joints. Cartilage is connective tissue between your bones. This supplement isn't approved by the FDA for medical use.

Glucosamine is used by the body to make other chemicals that build tendons, ligaments, cartilage, and the fluid that surrounds joints. Joints are cushioned by the fluid and cartilage around them. Taking glucosamine might increase the cartilage and fluid around joints and/or help prevent their breakdown.

Reported improvement (e.g. reduction in painful symptoms) varies from three weeks to as much as eight weeks. Some studies have shown continued improvement of symptoms after oral intake was stopped. Generally, if there is no pain reduction after two months, there is little chance of improvement.

Chondroitin helps keep cartilage healthy by absorbing fluid (particularly water) into the connective tissue. It may also block enzymes that break down cartilage, and it provides the building blocks for the body to produce new cartilage.

You can take glucosamine at any time during this that feels most convenient for you. There is some opinion that drinking in the morning is best. There are some people who like to drink them with meals. Others prefer to drink them on an empty stomach with a glass or two of water.

Each tablet provides a full 500mg of glucosamine sulphate (equivalent to 665mg glucosamine sulphate 2KCl) and 100mg of pure, marine sourced chondroitin sulphate. Lamberts chose to use the sulphate form of glucosamine and chondroitin becasue this is the material used in scientific studies.
Suggested Use: As a dietary supplement for adults, they take 1 tablet 3 times a day unchewed with a little liquid, preferably with a meal, or as recommended by their nutritionist.
Do not exceed the indicated daily dose. Dietary supplements are not a substitute for balanced and varied diets. The product is protected from light, sealed and kept out of reach of toddlers.
